Petitioners raise grievance that they are entitled for 10% simple interest per annum for the delayed period on payment SVH 3 958-CP-534-23++.odt of gratuity amount, however, the Municipal Council has paid interest @ 8% per annum.
Operative part
Learned advocate for Municipal Council submits that as per the notification dated 01/10/1987, 10% simple interest is required to be paid for the delayed period on payment of gratuity amount. According to him, the amount of interest payable to all the petitioners comes to Rs.12,86,343/- approximately and the same will be paid to the petitioners within four weeks from today. By recording the said statement as undertaking to this Court, the contempt petitions are disposed of.
If the petitioners have any dispute about the claims having not been settled by the Municipal Council, they are at liberty to avail the appropriate remedy.
