Punjab for the respondents T.S.Thakur, C.J. (Oral) ***** An affidavit has been filed by Ms. Madhu Dayal, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab appearing for Mr. Amol Rattan Singh, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab in terms of our order dated 15.9.2008. The affidavit, inter-alia, states that requests for information under the Right to Information Act, 2005 shall be entertained even in Hindi provided the same is accompanied by the fee prescribed for the purpose. The affidavit goes on to state that the State Government have not issued any instructions to the effect that applications submitted in Hindi seeking information under the Act aforementioned will not be entertained by the concerned officers. On the contrary, all the applications filed in English, Punjabi as also in Hindi are being entertained and information is being provided to the applicants. CWP No. 2928 of 2008 [2] In the circumstances, therefore, this writ petition does not call for any further direction except that the authorities shall make it known to the general public by affixing appropriate notices in the offices concerned that applications can be made and shall be entertained even in Hindi. The petition is disposed of with the above observation leaving the parties to their own costs.
