Learned State counsel has placed on record notification dated 14.3.2007, showing that in exercise of powers conferred under Section 8 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (for brevity, ‘the Act’), the Child Development Project Officers working in the State of Punjab, have been appointed as Protection Officers with immediate effect. They are to exercise power and perform duties conferred on them by or under the Act or the Rules framed thereunder, in the area falling under their respective block/jurisdiction. Copy of the notification dated 14.3.2007 is taken C.W.P. No. 2898 of 2008 2 on record as Mark ‘A’. In view of the above, the writ petition has been rendered infructuous and is disposed of as such.
