Judgment

V.Ramkumar, J.========================B.A.No.213 of 2007========================Dated this the 16th day of January, 2007.ORDERPetitioner, who is the first accused in Crime No.372/2006 of Koyipram Police Station for offences punishable under Sections 51, 63,52A and 68A of the Copy Right Act, 1957, seeks anticipatory bail.

Even though the learned Public Prosecutor opposed the application submitting inter alia that 19 pirated VCDs were recovered from the petitioner and that this sort of trade will adversely affect the industry, since this Court has already granted bail in similar cases, Isee no reason to treat the petitioner differently.

Accordingly, a direction is issued to the officer-in-charge of the police station concerned to release the petitioner on bail for a period of one month in the event of his arrest in connection with the above case on his executing a bond for Rs. 10,000/- with two solvent sureties each for the like amount to the satisfaction of the said officer and subject to the following conditions: 1. The petitioner shall report before the InvestigatingOfficer between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on all Wednesdays. BA 213/07-: 2 :-2. The petitioner shall make himself available for interrogation as and when required by the InvestigatingOfficer. 3. The petitioner shall not influence or intimidate the prosecution witnesses nor shall he attempt to tamper with the evidence for the prosecution.

The petitioner shall not commit any offence while on bail.
