Mr. Kasnaladhar has also brought to our attention the definition of the word merchant bank as indicated in wikipedia. the free encyclopedia. a financial capital “A Merchant Bank is provides institution which companies in the form of share ownership instead of loans. A merchant bank also provides advisory on corporate matters to the firms they lend to.” and on the basis of such definition, urges that a merchant bank could also be taken to be a financial institution within the scope of the provisions of Section 2(5A) read with Section 2(58) of the Act.
