The petitioners have approached this Court for several reliefs. They have also challenged the deletion of proviso to section 10-1A of the Bombay Village Panchayats Act, 1958 effected by the Maharashtra Act no. 5 of 2009 with effect from
1.8.2010. The petitioners' caste claims are pending before the Scrutiny Committee, as a result of which they were unable to contest the elections to the Village Panchayat.
The learned Advocate for the petitioners states that the petitioners may be permitted to withdraw the Petition and the Scrutiny Committee should be directed to decide the caste claims of the petitioners, as expeditiously as possible. 2 WP 2810.2010
