Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita — Section 135

135. Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person, in attempting wrongfully to confine that person, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees, or with both.

Punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation.

Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.

Assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person, otherwise than on grave provocation.

Assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person.

Assault or criminal force in attempt to wrongfully confine a person.
