2. Petitioner Rajesh Chabra has filed this writ petition for the following reliefs: “I. Issue a writ order or direction in the nature of certiorari quashing the impugned First Information Report dated 27.7.2006 lodged by the respondent no. 4, which has been registered as Case Crime no. 2680 of 2006 U/s 384, 420, 500, 120-B IPC, Police-Station Khatima District – Udham Singh Nagar. II. Issue a suitable writ order or direction, which this Hon’ble Court may be deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case. III. Award the cost of the petition.”

3. The petitioner is apprehending his arrest for his alleged involvement in Crime No. 2680 of 2006 registered at Police Station Khatima, District Udham Singh Nagar for the alleged commission of the offences punishable under Sections 384, 420 and 500 read with 120-B of the I.P.C.

4. Respondent No. 4 Sri Pooran Lal Verma, Senior Sub-Inspector, Police Station Khatima, lodged the First Information Report on

5. co-accused Deepak Murari to blackmail one Tilak Raj Gambhir with a view to extract a sum of Rs. 20,000/- from him.

On due consideration of the submissions of the learned counsel for the parties; the contents of the above-quoted First Information Report and the serious nature of the allegations against the petitioner and his co-accused Deepak Murari who has already been arrested by the police, we are of the opinion that it is not a fit case for grant of any of the reliefs sought by the petitioner in the writ petition.

7. The writ petition, therefore, fails and is hereby dismissed summarily.
