The petitioners have filed the present petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India with a prayer to direct the official respondents not to harass the petitioners unnecessarily and to conduct the investigation in a case arising out of FIR No.52 dated 30.04.2026, under Sections 62,74,115(2),191(3),190,325,333,351(2), 351(3) of B.N.S and 3(1) of the Scheduled Castes {corresponding Sections 511, 354, 323, 148, 149, 428, 452, 506, 506(2) of IPC}, Police Station Bhadson, District Patiala in a fair and impartial manner.

Pursuant to the notice, a status report by way of an affidavit of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nabha, District Patiala has been filed on behalf of respondents No.1 to 4 and 7 and the same is taken on record.

Learned State counsel submits that after the registration of the FIR, an application was moved by Jarnail Singh before the D.I.G, Patiala Range, CRWP-7502-2026 -2 Patiala and had prayed for fair investigation. Consequently, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur deputed the Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Sangrur to conduct the necessary investigation.

The Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Sangrur submitted his report on 01.06.2026, which was not accepted. Thereafter, on receipt of another application from Gagandeep Kaur, D.I.G, Patiala Range, Patiala directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala to get the matter investigated by the Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, Patiala. Now, the Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, Patiala i.e the I.O of the present case.

Learned State counsel on instructions from DIG, Patiala Range, Patiala submits that the investigation in the present case shall be handed over to some IPS Officer from District Barnala and the investigation shall be conducted in a fair and impartial manner.

Faced with the above, learned counsel for the petitioner does not press the present petition, at this stage.

Dismissed as not pressed, at this stage.
