Judgment

CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE ROHIT KAPOOR Present: Mr. Sukhbir Maandi, Advocate for the petitioners. Ms. Amrit Kaur Mahir, AAG, Punjab. *** ROHIT KAPOOR , J. (Oral)

1.

The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to the official respondents for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners and for restraining the private respondents No.4 to 6 from interfering in their matrimonial life.

2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners inter alia contends that both the petitioners are major and copies of their Aadhaar cards are appended with the petition as Annexures P-1 and P-2, as proof of their age. It is further contended that the petitioners have got married on 09.06.2026 at Gurudwara Sahib Lakhi Shah Vanjara Forest Hill, near Singha Devi Colony, Tehsil Kharar, District Mohali. The attention of the Court is drawn to the marriage certificate and photographs, which are appended with the petition as Annexure P-3 and P-4 respectively. It is argued that the private respondents No.4 CRWP-7052-2026 (O&M) -2- to 6 and other relatives are opposed to the marriage of petitioner No.1 with petitioner No.2 and thus, there is a serious threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners. It is contended that the petitioners have submitted a representation dated 09.06.2026 (Annexure P-5) to respondent No.2 seeking protection of their life and liberty and would be satisfied if at this stage a direction is given to the said respondents to decide the same in accordance with law.
