Judgment

—————— Ms. Tejas J. Kapre, AGP for the Applicant-State. Mr. D. V. Sutar, Ms. Shruti Ghodake, Mr. S. M. Patil and Ms. Reshma J. Adnaik for the Respondent No.1 (original Petitioner). —————— Coram : Smt. Vibha Kankanwadi & Nandesh S. Deshpande, JJ. Date : June 9, 2026. ORDER:

#1. Present application has been iled for extension of time for compliance with the directions given by this Court in Writ Petition No. 7359 of 2023 by order dated 14th January 2026.

#2. Heard learned AGP Ms. Tejas Kapre for the Applicant-State and learned Advocate Mr. D. V. Sutar for Respondent No.1-original Petitioner.

#3. By the order dated 14th January 2026, this Court had set aside the impugned order dated 20th October 2021 passed by the Respondent No.4 and directed the Respondent No.4 to process the petitioner’s proposal for grant of beneit of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package in respect of deceased Rekha, who was wife of the Petitioner and to grant Patil-SR 1 of 2 2 ia-616-2026(c).doc compensation to the Petitioner in terms of the said scheme.

#4. Learned AGP submits that no appeal has been iled, however, considering the inancial implication and policy, it would take some time for the budgetary allocation and approval from the inance department and therefore the extension has been sought.

#5. Learned Advocate for the original petitioner objects stating that there was absolutely no efort made by the Respondent No.4.

#6. It appears that after the order came to be passed, communication has been made on 20th April 2026 to the Director of Health Department and copy of another communication dated 22nd May 2026 is tendered across the bar by learned AGP. The communication dated 22nd May 2026 is rather a copy-paste of communication dated 20th April 2026. That means there is no progress during the said period and only guidance has been sought. There is no evidence produced that the amount has been demanded by quantifying it.

#7. We do not ind any reasonable ground for granting extension of time. However, only one week’s time is granted from today to put the proposal by quantifying the amount and we expect that the same would be released by the State Government within 15 days thereafter failing which action of contempt of court to be initiated against the erring oicers.

#8. With these directions, we dispose of the application. [NANDESH S. DESHPANDE, J.] [SMT. VIBHA KANKANWADI, J.] Patil-SR 2 of 2
