Heard the learned Counsel for the parties. The challenge in this Petition is to an order of externment passed by the Competent Authority under Section 55 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. The learned Counsel for the Petitioners submits that the Petitioners have already preferred an appeal before the Appellate Authority. However, the appeal has not been heard. Since the Petitioners have preferred an appeal against the externment order before the Appellate Authority under Section 60 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, it would be Talwalkar expedient that the Appellate Authority shall decide the appeal as

Operative part
The Writ Petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Appellate Authority (Respondent No. 3) to hear and decide the Appeal preferred by the Petitioners as expeditiously as possible, and, preferably, within a period of four weeks from 30th March,
