High Court by one Sri Saurav Das, on behalf of an NGO, called, “Forever Green Meghalaya” from the State of Meghalaya, which has been forwarded to ASLSA by Hon’ble Patron-in-Chief. The grievance of the petitioner is with regard to the deforestation, environmental imbalance and environmental pollution etc. due to the establishment of number of lime stone mines and cement plants in the Jaintia Hills in the State of Meghalaya by violating the Forest Conservation Act, 1982 and other law relating to Mines Act, 1952, Environment Protection Act, 1987. The petitioner has already submitted a number of representations to the respondents, one of which dated
25.07.2009 at Annexure-5 (a) before the Deputy Chief Minister, In-charge of Mining and Geology, Government of Meghalaya. This Court is of the opinion that the petitioner has available remedy to approach before the respondents. With the above circumstances, a direction is issued to the respondent No. 4- Principal Secretary, Mining and Geology Department to dispose of such representation after issuing notice to all the parties concerned as expeditiously as possible. With the above observations, this PIL is disposed of. JUDGE CHIEF JUSTICE
