ORDER The prayer in these petitions is to direct respondent Nos. 2 and 4 to consider the case of petitioners, for appointment to suitable posts. 4th respondent is a Co-operative Bank registered under the Karnataka Co-operative Societies Act, 1959. 2nd respondent is a Committee constituted by the 4th respondent for the purpose of executing the works of the 4th respondent – Bank. It is too well settled that Co-operative Societies do not fall within the meaning of ‘State’ under Article 12 of the Constitution of India and a writ cannot lie as against a Co-operative Society. In the said view of the matter, writ petitions being not maintainable, stand dismissed. The dismissal of the petitions would not come in the way of the petitioners pursuing their grievance against the 4th respondent, in accordance with law before appropriate forum.
