Heard Mr.G.Gomathi Sankar, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.M.Govindan, learned Special Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondent.

By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

The petitioner is the owner of the lorry bearing RegistrationNo. TN-57-Z-0151 and the respondent seized the same on 15.07.2011 and further, he made a representation to the respondent on 22.07.2011 to release the vehicle.

The learned Counsel for the petitioner relies on the decision of the Division Bench of this Court in Deputy Commissioner of CivilSupplies, City South, Chennai and another v. S.Damodaran reported in(2007) 3 MLJ 196.

In view of the decision of the Division Bench of this Court, the petitioner is given liberty to approach the competent authority with an application for release of the vehicle concerned and as and when such application is filed, the authority shall consider the same https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 2as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of one week after such filing of the application.
