419 of 2026__________Page 2 of 42. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.3. It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the respondent Corporation on 27.06.1997 and retired on 31.05.2024. However, the retirement benefits such as PF, Gratuity, Surrender Leave Salary and Earned Leave Salary were paid to him on 02.12.2025 belatedly without any interest. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation on 13.12.2025 claiming interest for the belated payment of PF, Gratuity, Surrender leave salary and Earned leave salary, which evoked no response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra from the date of retirement to till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, if there is no other impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No.
