Originally, free patta in respect of Government land was granted in the name of Tmt. Devikala, wife of the petitioner. Since she had not utilised the land, the patta was subsequently cancelled at her request. Thereafter, the petitioner submitted an application seeking grant of patta in respect of Government land measuring 482 sq.mtrs. The authorities found that such a larger extent of Government land cannot be granted in favour of one person and the same has to be distributed among other eligible landless poor people in terms of the Revenue Standing Orders. Accordingly, the District Collector, Namakkal, passed an order in proceedings dated 26.05.2025 to consider the claim of the petitioner for grant of free patta in accordance with the Revenue Standing Orders.
