SINGHVI, CJ This is a petition for quashing notification dated 27-01-1997 issued by State Election Commissioner under Article 243-K of the Constitution of India read with Sections 200 and 201 of the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 and Rule 4(2) of Andhra Pradesh (Conduct of Elections of Members and Sarpanches of Gram Panchayats, Members of Mandal Parishads and Members of Zilla Parishads) Rules, 1994. Learned Government Pleader says that after filing of the writ petition, two general elections have been held for the gram panchayats in the years 2001 and 2006 and, therefore, the writ petition may be disposed of as infructuous. Ordered accordingly.
