The brief facts of the case are that the plaintiffs filed a suit for recovery of a sum of Rs.1,50,OOO/-'uvith interest @, 24o/o per annum from the date of death of Chinthalapudi Narayana Rao till the date of realization, along with costs. The trial Court, after hearing both sides, vide order dated

23.09.2002, decreed the suit against defendant Nos.i and 2 for Rs.1,50,OOO/-, with future interest at l2o/o pc'r ilnnum from the date of death of the deceased, i.e., 15.05.1995, till the date of realization, along with costs. The trial Cr>urt also directed that the compensation amount shall be clivjded into four shares. Plaintiff Nos.l and 2 shall be paid one share each. The amounts payable to plaintiff Nos.3 and 4 shall be kept in fixed deposits in any nationalized bank for one year and three years respectively, so that the amounts may be paid 2 to them after they attain majority. Aggrieved thereby, the appellant/T.S. Police Housing Corporation filed the present appeal.

3. Heard Sri Deva Ravi Kumar, learned Standing Counsel for the T.S. Police Housing Corporation, appearing on behalf of the appellant. There is no representation on behalf of the respondents.

4. Learned Standing Counsel for the appellant submitted that, as per the directions of this Court dated 03.O2.2OO3, the appellant deposited half of the decretal amount in the trial Court within eight (8) weeks. He further submitted that the appellant is ready to pay the remaining 50% of the amount and requested the Court to reduce the interest rate from L2oh to 7.5o/o, and to pass appropriate orders.

5. In view of the request made by the learned Standing Counsel for the appellant that the rate of interest may be reduced from l2o/o to 7.1Vo per annum, this Court deems it Iit to reduce the interest rate from l2o/o to 7.5% per annum.
