Overview

Courts & Cases is an AI-powered legal drafting and research platform for Indian legal professionals. It indexes Indian Supreme Court and High Court judgments and uses AI to assist with drafting court documents, researching matters, and profiling judges.

The platform is a professional tool — it assists qualified legal professionals in their work. It is not a law firm, not a legal advisor, and does not provide legal advice. All outputs must be reviewed, verified, and independently judged by a qualified advocate before use.

Eligibility

By using Courts & Cases, you represent that:

You are at least 18 years of age.
You are a qualified advocate, law student (under the supervision of a qualified advocate), in-house counsel, or other legal professional, or are using the platform in a professional legal context.
You have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements under Indian law.
You are not barred from using the service under any applicable law or regulation.

If you are using the platform on behalf of a law firm or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.

⚠ Important: AI is a tool, not a lawyer

This is the most important section of these terms. Please read it carefully.

Courts & Cases uses AI to assist with legal drafting and research. The outputs of the platform — including drafted documents, legal arguments, case summaries, judge profiles, and research reports — are AI-generated and must not be relied upon without independent professional review.

What this means in practice

Verify every citation before you file. Although we retrieve citations from our indexed corpus of real judgments, AI systems can misrepresent, mis-cite, or mischaracterise legal authorities. Every citation must be independently verified against the original judgment before use in any court proceeding, submission, or client advice.
The platform does not provide legal advice. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice, and no advocate-client relationship is created between you and Courts & Cases by use of the platform.
You are responsible for your filings. As a qualified advocate, you bear full professional and ethical responsibility for any document you file in court. Using Courts & Cases does not reduce or transfer this responsibility.
AI outputs may be incomplete or incorrect. Legal analysis generated by AI may miss relevant law, misstate legal principles, or fail to account for recent developments. Always apply your own professional judgment.
Judge profiles are not predictions. Judge Intelligence profiles are based on patterns derived from indexed judgments. They are analytical observations, not guarantees of how a judge will decide any particular matter.
Case Journey coverage is incomplete. Case journeys connect proceedings using links detected automatically in judgment text. A link may be missing, not yet reviewed, or wrong, and many trial-court and District Court orders are not in the corpus. Verify linked proceedings and any generated analysis against the official court record before relying on them.
Illustrative examples are not records. Examples on our marketing pages that are labelled illustrative show how the product works. They are not real cases, judges, or statistics.

Bar Council obligation: Advocates using this platform remain bound by the Bar Council of India Rules and the Advocates Act, 1961. Use of AI tools does not relieve you of your duties of competence, candour, or diligence.

Your account

You sign in using your Google account. You are responsible for:

Keeping your Google account credentials secure.
All activity that occurs under your Courts & Cases account.
Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You may not share your account with another person. Each account is for one individual user. If you need multiple team members to use the platform, each must create their own account and may be added to a shared team within the platform.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the platform to:

Generate documents for unlawful purposes or to facilitate any illegal activity.
File fraudulent or misleading documents in any court or legal proceeding.
Impersonate any person, advocate, or court official.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the judgment corpus or any platform data in bulk without our written permission.
Circumvent credit limits, authentication, or any access control mechanism.
Introduce malware, denial-of-service attacks, or otherwise interfere with the platform's operation.
Use the platform in any way that violates applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Advocates Act, 1961, or Bar Council of India Rules.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account and, where appropriate, reporting to law enforcement or the Bar Council.

Your content

You own your content. The legal drafts, documents, research sessions, and other content you create and save on Courts & Cases remain your intellectual property. We do not claim ownership over the content of your Vault.

By using the platform, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the service to you. This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account.

You represent that:

You have the right to submit any content you upload or create on the platform.
Your content does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Your content does not contain confidential information of third parties that you are not authorised to process using this service.

Client confidentiality: If you use the platform to draft documents involving client matters, you are responsible for ensuring that your use of a third-party AI service complies with your professional obligations of confidentiality under the Advocates Act and applicable ethical rules. You may consider using only the facts necessary to generate a draft, and not uploading full confidential client files.

Tracking & advertising

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website — which pages are read, how users navigate, and where they come from. Google Analytics collects anonymous usage data including:

Pages visited and time spent on each page.
Referring website or search term that brought you here.
Browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location (city-level).
Whether you are a new or returning visitor.

Google Analytics does not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. The data is aggregated and anonymised. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website and other websites on the internet. This is called interest-based advertising.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Courts & Cases and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out portal.

Your choice: You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. However, doing so may affect the functionality of certain features on our platform. For more information about how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Personal data we collect

We collect the minimum personal information necessary to operate the platform:

Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
Usage data: We log which features you use, drafts you create, and searches you perform — solely for the purpose of providing the service (e.g., saving drafts to your Vault, deducting credits correctly).
Payment information: If you purchase credits, your payment is processed by Instamojo. We do not store your credit card, UPI, or bank account details. Instamojo provides us with a transaction reference only.
Communication: If you email us, we retain your email address and message to respond to your enquiry.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Your data is used solely to provide and improve the platform. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling, retention, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Credits

Most AI features on Courts & Cases consume credits. Credits are deducted only when an action completes successfully — you are not charged for failed or cancelled operations.

Cost transparency: The credit cost of any action is shown before you run it.
Searching is free: Case Law search, Case Finder, and autocomplete do not cost credits.
Credit balance: Your live credit balance is always visible in the bottom-left Credits panel.
Purchased credits do not expire. Credits you pay for remain in your account until you spend them. There is no renewal requirement and no lapse date.
Free credits do expire. The welcome bonus and any promotional credits we grant are valid for 60 days from the date they are granted. Free credits are spent before purchased credits.
Credits already expired before this policy change were not restored.

Credits are non-transferable and may not be sold or gifted to another account.

Subscriptions & billing

Courts & Cases may offer subscription plans that provide a recurring credit allowance. By subscribing:

You authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your plan).
Subscription fees are charged in advance for the billing period.
Unused credits from a subscription period do not roll over unless explicitly stated in your plan.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access and credits until then.

Prices are displayed in Indian Rupees (INR) and include applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice.

Refunds

Credits purchased are generally non-refundable. We will consider refund requests in the following circumstances:

A technical error on our side caused credits to be deducted for a failed generation (in this case, credits are automatically restored).
A duplicate payment occurred due to a billing error.
An annual subscription is cancelled within 7 days of the initial purchase (pro-rated refund for unused months, subject to deduction of credits used).

Intellectual property

Platform

The Courts & Cases platform — including its user interface, design, software, AI pipelines, retrieval systems, and brand — is proprietary to Ariham. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the platform without our written permission.

Judgment corpus

The Indian Supreme Court and High Court judgments indexed in our corpus are public domain documents of the Government of India and Indian courts. We do not assert copyright over judgment text. Our copyright extends only to the metadata, indexing, embeddings, retrieval system, and platform UI — not to the underlying judgment text.

A portion of this corpus is sourced from datasets made available on the AWS Open Data Registry by Dattam Labs under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. In accordance with that licence, we provide the following attribution:

Your drafts

Legal documents you generate using the platform are your work product. You own them. We do not claim any copyright or licence over the content of your generated drafts beyond what is required to store and deliver them to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Indian law:

No warranty: The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
AI outputs: We make no warranty that AI-generated outputs are accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular legal purpose.
No liability for filings: We are not liable for any loss, damage, adverse judgment, disciplinary action, or professional consequence arising from your use of AI-generated content in court proceedings, client advice, or any legal matter.
Cap on liability: Our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Consequential loss: We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of business.

Professional responsibility: Nothing in these terms limits your liability to your clients or to the courts. You remain fully responsible for your professional conduct and filings.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ariham, Courts & Cases, and their officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

Your use of the platform in violation of these terms.
Your use of AI-generated outputs without adequate independent review.
Any content you submit to the platform that infringes third-party rights.
Any violation of applicable law, Bar Council rules, or court rules.

Governing law & disputes

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.

Before initiating formal legal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us at [email protected] to resolve disputes informally. We will endeavour to respond within 14 business days.

Termination

By you

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon closure, your data will be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. Unused credits are forfeited on account closure.

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account with or without notice if:

You materially breach these terms and do not remedy the breach within 7 days of notice.
We are required to do so by law or court order.
We reasonably believe your account is being used fraudulently or to cause harm.
We discontinue the platform (with at least 30 days' notice).

On termination, your data will be handled per our Privacy Policy. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, liability, indemnity, and governing law) shall continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by:

Updating the "Last updated" date above.
Notifying you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect (for changes that materially affect your rights).

Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept the updated terms, you must stop using the platform and may close your account.
